24TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF CENTRAL EUROPEAN POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCATION (CEPSA)
The Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Pécs, Hungary, successfully organized 24th annual Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA) conference titled “CEE – A Region In-Between”. Conference was held on 26 and 27 September 2019 at the University of Pécs and attended by more than 150 scientists and academics from more than 15 countries, not only from Europe, but also from the world, who could listen to 107 papers, presented at the twenty panels. Recent trends in the Central and Eastern European countries further proved the unique position and mindset of the region – in-between two different worlds and cultures, the East and the West. What a few might call the return of history, the countries once again experience uncertainty, political extremity and the influence of external powers. As part of the opening speech, acting CEPSA President, prof. dr. Miro Haček thanked The Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Pécs for the preparation of such an important conference, whose organization is de facto a recognition of the workplace as important for the discipline of political science. During the conference, CEPSA executive board met and decided on several important issue, among them also on the international activity of CEPSA in next period (CEPSA will organize panels both at IPSA World Congress in Lisbon and American Political Science Annual Conference in San Francisco) and on next two CEPSA annual conference, due in Olsztyn in 2020 and Ljubljana in 2021. The Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Pécs proved that the size is not important, but the ability to successfully promote and become aware of both the public and the professional community, through the organization of such important events. |

JOURNAL OF COMPARATIVE POLITICS FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH IMPACT FACTOR
One of the CEPSA co-sponsored journals, Journal of Comparative Politics (JCP) has for the first time since being established in 2007, acquired the Scopus Impact Factor (SNIP = 0.549) for 2018. The journal is also included in the Emerging Science Citation Index (ESCI) and ERIH Plus. Published twice a year exclusively in the online only version, all articles are available free of charge at www.jofcp.org. Academic from the CEE region are especially welcome to submit their original works! |

CEPSA AT APSA 2019
Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA) and Slovenian Political Science Association co-organised panel at 115th American Political Science Association’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition that was held in Washington D.C. on 29th of August 2019. The topic of the panel was "Populism in Europe: The rise of populist political parties and populist leaders” and included four papers from four CEPSA members countries, Hungary (Boglárka Koller), Slovenia (Simona Kukovič), Poland (Agnieszka Turska-Kawa) and Czech Republic (Petr Just). 23RD ANNUAL CONFERENCE
OF CENTRAL EUROPEAN POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCATION (CEPSA) The Faculty of Political Science and International Relations of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica last month was among the successful institutions of several countries, where an international scientific conference called CEPSA (Central European Political Science Association) was held on 13 and 14 September, which was organized with the financial support of Banská Bystrica. It was already its 23rd year, where more than 130 scientists and academics from more than 15 countries, not only of Europe, but also the world, participated. During this two-day conference rich program, participants focused their contributions in many panels at occasion of the centenary of the First World War and the world after its end. As part of the opening speech, still, at that time, still acting CEPSA President, Mr. Cabada, The Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica has earned recognition for the preparation of such an important conference, whose organization is de facto a recognition of the workplace as important for the discipline of political science. Interestingly, it was during this year that the election of the new president Mr. Hacek, vice president Mrs. Koller and secretary Mr. Just of the association took place, from which the new faces successfully emerged at the forefront of this association, important for consultations in the framework of political, social, international relations and security. The Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica proved that the size is not important, but the ability to successfully promote and become aware of both the public and the professional community, through the organization of such important events.
